Supervising Scientist (Microbiology)
Microbiology Section, Nepean Hospital Pathology Department Penrith NSW, Nepean Blue Mountains Mudgee and Lithgow Pathology Service, Pathology West.
Wages and Conditions in accordance with Hospital Scientists State Award NSW, Senior Hospital Scientist in charge of Section Years 1-3.
Duties/Abilities:
A scientist is required with significant knowledge and experience in general microbiology and management of a microbiology department. The incumbent will be required to supervise the general microbiology laboratory and be responsible for the management of staff and goods and services within the framework of the quality system that complies with NATA regulations.
The supervising scientist reports to the service unit manager and is responsible to the service unit manager for competent management of all scientific and administrative aspects of the functioning of the microbiology department.
The incumbent will work in consultation with professional staff who oversee supervision of the pathology laboratory.
Duties include those specified in position description (see attached) as well as ongoing reassessment of duties that will ensure that this section has an efficient and high quality service.
